PEN, MIGHTER THAN SWORD...eDiToRiAL

  

In the market of ideas, no one has the monopoly, Even the meek and the lowly has at least a story to tell.

Sa pang araw-araw na pakikisalamuha ng tao sa kapwa, naroon lagi ang palitan ng mga ideya, tunggalian ng isip, at brasuhan ng paniniwala. Ito ang tunay na nangyayari, mula sa tahanan hanggang sa kalye.

Sa isang collegial body o deliberative body tulad ng kongreso o kahit ng isang maliit na konseho, an gating mga representante ay ating ibinoto upang makipagtagisan ng talino at tumulong sa pagbuo ng mga batas na idinaraan sa isang maigting na deliberasyon, upang sa huli ay makabuo ng isang alituntuning susundin ng lahat, proponent man o appointees.

At tulad sa merkado, kung hindi ka maingat sa pagpili sa bunton ng kamatis, may nahahalo itong bulok at walang kapakinabangan. Sa konseho man ay may bulok din. Kapag nagkamali ka ng pili, darami ang miyembro ng “committee on silence”

Sabi ng iba, ito ay dahil sa bulag o nagbubulag-bulagan ang namimili o botante. Noon, “blood is thicker than water”.  Ngayon, “money is thicker blood”. Kaya, magkapatid man at magkadugo ay nagpapatayan upang makapasok sa konseho, matino man o bulok.

Ikalawa, sa panahon ng eleksiyon, bawat boto ay mahalamilyon-milyga. Mahalaga dahil ito ay nagkakahalaga ng P5,000 – P10,000. Kaya kapag naluklok ang isang nanalo, sasabihin nito na ang bayan ay bayad na at ngayon naman ay ang pagbawi ng  milyon-milyong nagasta.

Ating isipin bayan, ang isang senador ay gumagastos ng humigit kumulang P300 million. Ang isang congressman naman ay P50 – P100 million. Magkano ba ang suweldo ng isang senador o kongresista sa loob ng tatlong taong pagkakaupo? Sigurado ko, walang matinong gagawin iyan kung hindi ang babawiin  sa nakaraang nagastos nito.

Huwag na tayo lalayo, dito man sa Autonomous region ay mayroon ding kahalintulad na pangyayari. Sabi nga ng mga nakaaalam, may malala dito sa atin.

Manood ka sa mga sessions, makikita mo ang maraming mukha ng kabobohan. May parang batang naglalaro ng chair, may nagmamake-up, may kunwari ay nakikinig at nagbabasa, subalit  kapag tumayo na at nagsalita, Ingles kabayong masakit sa tenga ang maririnig mo. Pito – pitong  ingles at bali pa ang ika-pito.

Kaibigan, hindi ka pumasok sa isang templo upang mag-reflect o mag meditate. Nasa RLA ka kaibigan, at dapat lang na mag-ingay ka.

Ipagbili o ibenta mo ang iyong mga brilliant ideas. Ipaglaban mo ang mga hinaing ng iyong constituency. Hilutin mo ang iyong dila at iparinig mo ang laman ng iyong isipan. Dito ka binabayaran, dito ka inaasahan.

Ito po ang inyong lingkod, Rey Pelaez na nagpapaalalang tulad ng isang panliligaw, hinto ito nakukuha sa papogi-pogi at pangiti-ngiti lamang. At tulad ng isang honorable, dapat hindi ka lamang may honor, able, at competent ka pa sana. Magbago kana kaibigan, samahan mo si Noynoy sa tuwid na daan, na may tuwid na dila at kaisipan. Huwag kang magwang-wang sa iyong kabobohan.

MIDSAYAP hALaD fEsTiVaL 2011

Brief Story: 

Midsayap celebrates its yearly patronal fiesta every 3^rd Sunday of January in honor of its patron saint Sto. Niño. Among its highlights are carnival, cultural shows, novena, procession, agro-trade fair, motocross cycling competition, civic parade, search for mutya, among others. Not to mention the sumptuous food preparations of almost every household. (DOT)

 Midsayap has been a second home for me, were my lola (grandma) lives. It’s been 5 years that I haven’t visited Midsayap. So I got excited when I’ve heard Midsayap Halad festival is coming.

I woke up early morning of January 15^th  rode a bus so that before 7am I should be at the Hillpark Inn where the program starts. As I arrived I still had the chance to take photos of the 9 contingents from different barangays of Midsayap only to showcase its local talents.

The Midsayap Central Pilot Elementary School won the junior category and the Notre Dame of Midsayap College won the senior category. On each category the champion took 100 thousand as the grand prize.

I would like to thank Hon. Lloyd S. Quejada for accommodating SOCCSKSARGEN BLOGGERS and a very warm welcome. It is indeed a memorable experience the Midsayap Halad Festival.

JOHN HOPKINS UNIVERSITY visited ARMM - Cotabato City

The students from John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies visited the regional seat of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).  The delegation composed of 21 students lead by Philip Terrence Hopman director of the said school.

According to ARMM Executive Secretary Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo the intended visit of the students who were in the Masters Program in Conflict Management  of the said university is for them to know and gain knowledge of what are the happening and efforts of the Autonomous Regional Government on its constituents especially on the program of ARMM in conflict resolution and management.

 

The itinerary of the delegation includes a visit at Camp Darapanan to have a dialogue at MILF Peace Panel and a chance to talk to different sectors of NGO’s/ CSO’s. They included a dialogue with International Monitoring Team (IMT) and its Civilian Protection Component, leaders of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) and personnel of UN offices in the region.

After the colorful parade of Guinakit fluvial parade at Cotabato City Wharf here comes the exciting food trip at Peoples palace lobby called the Grand kanduli.

 The grand kanduli is the finale of the Shariff Kabunsuan festival in the afternoon of December 19, 2010. Kanduli is a Maguinadanao term for thanksgiving, was held with feast (pagana).

 

As I arrived at the lobby of the Peoples palace I took pictures of the set up of the feast. Native mats were spread on the floor where silver food trays was used and loaded with rice, crabs, shrimps, sotanghon, sinina or the spicy goat or beef, salads, native maguinadanao delis and too many to mention.

The feast begun after a short message and introduction of the local officials. Different barangays participated in the said event. Everyone enjoys the feast and savor every dish in the banquet.

One of the highlights of the Shariff Kabunsuan Festival is the Guinakit fluvial parade. So I asked myself what is the meaning of guinakit then I decided to search over the net.

Guinakit is a Maguindanao term that refers to a convoy of bancas used by the early muslim leaders when they travelled.

The fluvial parade composes of 10 different colorful bancas and both big and small in sizes. It was decorated with pandalas, pasandalan, and baguintangs in strong colors of yellow, red, blue and green.
