for DSWD-12 Regional Dir. Bai Zorahayda Taha

1. Offshoot to President Aquino's ocular inspection last June 22, around the flooded corners of Cotabato City, across the region and the ARMM, he specifically instructed the DSWD 12 to take the following tasks:

·        improve the condition of the evacuation centers
·        ensure potable drinking water for evacuees
·        ensure food packs to reach actual flood victims
·        work with DOH to minimize spread of disease in evacuation center

2. Our social workers are trained, resourced and ready to accomplish missions in times of calamities and disasters.

3. As of June 23 (6am), there are 70,169 families affected by the flash flood in the region. They are currently served in the evacuation centers. A total of P13,085,688 worth of assistance were already given. Out of this, DSWD has a counterpart augmentation support of P10,493,260.00.

4. We are committed to the cause of faster, smarter better services, together, and will remain in areas where calamities are founded as long as we are needed to augment support and guide our partners in service delivery.

5. Our fight to counter distress, trauma and hunger is tough but we will remain steadfast and not lose heart, same with our dealings in previous disaster such as in conflict management situation.

6. We are moving forward together with DOH, local government units, and NGOs as partners in quality and effective delivery of social protection services.


7. The DSWD is values-based, people-focused agency that strives to uphold the dignity of all. As the core social protection agency of the government, we have never failed the will of the Filipino people.
