COTABATO CITY: gUiNaKiT fLuViAL pArAdE

One of the highlights of the Shariff Kabunsuan Festival is the Guinakit fluvial parade. So I asked myself what is the meaning of guinakit then I decided to search over the net.

Guinakit is a Maguindanao term that refers to a convoy of bancas used by the early muslim leaders when they travelled.

The fluvial parade composes of 10 different colorful bancas and both big and small in sizes. It was decorated with pandalas, pasandalan, and baguintangs in strong colors of yellow, red, blue and green.

The Guinakit fluvial parade started from the Cotabato City wharf commonly known as “pantalan” at the opening of the Rio Grande. SOURCE: PHILIPPINE HEADLINE NEWS ONLINE [PHNO] WEBSITE
