Maitum celebrates the 4th Bangsi Festival last
January 27 – 28, 2011. The celebration honors the fisher folk who capture
bangsi (flying fish) for livelihood. Bangsi is a “marinated flying fish.”

This year’s festival theme is “Masaganang Karagatan, Yaman ng
Mamamayan.”

Majority of the people in Maitum are Ilocano. I have tasted
an authentic Ilocano dishes served by ate Beth Palma Gil, it was delectable
indeed. People of Maitum are very warm and hospitable.
So next time, you should not fail to watch and experience the
grandeur of Maitum Bangsi Festival.
